Genetic Diversity Analysis

With AFLP® fingerprints the genetic diversity and pairwise similarity between individuals are quantified and visualized. The AFLP ® technology can be efficiently and directly applied to all species.

Its Value
A genetic diversity analysis:

  • clarifies the relationship between individuals;
  • can be used to design interspecific crosses or to maximize heterozygosity in hybrids;
  • can determine whether a variety is sufficiently genetically different to be of interest for the future breeding program;
  • produces data that can be stored and readily used again for future analyses;
  • results in a clear graphical representation of genetic similarities and differences.

The attached KeyFact shows a genetic diversity analysis performed on grapevine varieties: KF Genetic Diversity Analysis.pdf (810 Kb)
