Digital phenotyping

Phenotyping is an essential process in the development of novel crop varieties. The last few years, digital phenotyping has made a leap forward thanks to advances in image capturing technology, robotics, computer vision, and now offers great opportunities to accelerate crop breeding. When combined in innovative ways, the novel technologies can provide powerful solutions to increase the throughput, extend the range of application of digital phenotyping and can help to overcome many of the current bottlenecks in crop development.

KeyGene’s Digital Phenotyping team is looking for talented students for the following intern positions;

RGB image deep learning algorithm development

KeyGene is developing a new array of algorithms based on deep learning to support the research and breeding pipeline. In this internship you will learn and develop several deep learning algorithms using 2D RGB images as input and collaborate with KeyGene’s mathematicians, statisticians and biologists.

Hyperspec data analysis

KeyGene is evaluating various hyperspec equipment and data capturing protocols. In this internship you will learn hyperspec data correction and formula development using machine learning. In this process you will collaborate with KeyGene’s mathematicians, statisticians and biologists. You will develop a data analysis pipeline for hyperspec data analysis and the analysis of biological treatment effects.

Point cloud data analysis

KeyGene is evaluating various 3D scanning equipment. In this internship you will learn to work with 3D point cloud data in software packages like Matlab for object selection, feature extraction and noise identification. In this process you will collaborate with KeyGene’s mathematicians, statisticians and biologists. You will develop methods for biological data extraction from RGB point clouds.
