Our goal is to help organizations with their toughest R&D challenges, combining our cutting-edge breeding technologies, bioinformatics & data science expertise and plant-based trait platforms. At KeyGene, we work in an international environment with more than 140 professionals from all over the world. Our company is based in Wageningen, the Netherlands, Rockville, MD, USA and Hyderabad, India
Phenotyping is an essential process in the development of novel crop varieties. The last few years, digital phenotyping has made a leap forward thanks to advances in image capturing technology, robotics, computer vision, and now offers great opportunities to accelerate crop breeding. When combined in innovative ways, the novel technologies can provide powerful solutions to increase the throughput, extend the range of application of digital phenotyping and can help to overcome many of the current bottlenecks in crop development.
KeyGene’s Digital Phenotyping team is looking for talented
Interns in the field of digital phenotyping
Intern: Statistical growth model development/validation
Vacancy number: 19.intern002
Digital phenotyping methods are evolving and delivering ever more precise data (multiple 2D images, hyperspectral data cubes as well as 3D RGB point cloud data). We wish to further develop the statistical growth models underlying the analysis of these data. With that we aim to take further advantage of the time and repeated measurements components. These improved models will help support the overall analysis pipeline in our quest to validate minute effects between treatments or genotypes as well as predict outwards into the future.
Intern: Digital Phenotyping Point cloud data analysis
Vacancy number: 19.intern003
KeyGene is evaluating various 3D scanning equipment. In this internship you will learn to work with 3D point cloud data in software packages like Matlab and/or python for object selection, feature extraction and noise identification. In this process you will collaborate with KeyGene’s mathematicians, statisticians and biologists. You will develop methods for biological data extraction from RGB point clouds.
