Are you a talented postdoctoral or research scientist and eager to gain new experience in a highly innovative plant research company?

KeyGene invites you to apply for an EC Marie Skłodowska-Curie 2020 Individual Fellowship with our support.

Deadline for first response is Monday, June 8,  9:00 CET, see below. Selected candidates will then be invited to pitch their research proposal for the MC IF application at KeyGene or online at the end of June.

Candidates in the final selection will be appointed a KeyGene mentor who will support the candidate with their MC IF application filing. EU deadline is 9 September 2020.

The MC IF is a prestigious European funding scheme that supports mobility, career development and training within and beyond Europe. It offers a highly competitive salary and research funds for 12 to 24 months.

Candidate’s profile qualifications to work at KeyGene

To ensure a promising match we are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • PhD. in a relevant area (e.g. plant sciences, breeding, molecular genetics, applied genetics, molecular biology, bioinformatics, data science, computer science)
  • Scientific expertise with proven experience, exemplified by a track record of high-impact publications and/or patents
  • Strong and inspiring vision on innovation and new concepts for R&D in the field of molecular breeding, trait development, technology development, data science and/or artificial intelligence
  • Ambitious, entrepreneurial and customer-oriented
  • Keen interest in translating R&D into groundbreaking applications
  • Solid communicative skills, including networking

Field of Action
Suggestions for fields of action for the application are:

  • Resistance to pests and diseases
  • Protein and Specialty crops
  • Development of novel, out-of-the-box, technologies with respect to single-cell genomics, including DNA and RNA
  • Tissue delivery and regeneration
  • Biologicals
  • Artificial Intelligence for crop innovation
  • Big data genomics, including pan-genomics
  • Computational and experimental lead discovery: genes and genetics in traits that have an impact
  • Genomic prediction
  • Polyploid Genetics
  • Metabolic pathway engineering



Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Experience: Researchers in possession of a Ph.D. degree.  
  2. Mobility: the researcher must not have worked or resided in the Netherlands for more than 36 months within the past five years at the time of deadline for submission of the proposal, September 9, 2020)
