As biotic stress scientist, you are passionate about plants immunity and eager to contribute to sustainable disease
and/or pest management. You will be involved in projects on resistance and loss-of-susceptibility, have a fair role
in project acquisition, and will be active in maintaining/initiating external collaborations.

Position
The main tasks of the position involve collaborating in and acquiring innovative and ambitious research projects aimed
to develop novel concepts and technologies for disease and pest management in crops. In an international, science-driven
environment, you make cutting-edge contributions that lead to IP and commercial applications, in close
collaboration with seed companies and R&D partners. You will be part of a dynamic research team engaged in the
development of novel technologies and approaches to study plant-attacker interactions, such as microbe-induced
plant immunity and computational modeling for trait prediction. The scientific research is conducted in state-of-the-art
facilities, including a brand-new plant growth chamber and greenhouse infrastructure.

Desired skills and expertise

  • PhD degree in plant biotechnology, molecular phytopathology/entomology or related field
  • 6+ years of relevant work experience in academia or industry
  • Background in or affinity with plant breeding and related technology development
  • Capable of working independently and well organized in a dynamic professional environment
  • Basic knowledge of bioinformatics and biostatistics
  • Quality and result-oriented team player
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Flexible and pro-active working attitude to achieve objectives
  • Good communication and reporting skills in English both verbal and written
  • An effective network including academic scientists and/or private companies
