Enhancing breeding efficiency to get better crop varieties to market faster and more effectively
By enhancing breeding efficiency, better crop varieties can be brought to market faster and more cost effectively. This can be reached via improved breeding approaches and plant selection processes.
KeyGene is using high-resolution genetic and genomic data, along with data science technology and new approaches in reproduction biology. With that, we support our partners to improve the breeding process.
With our breeding partners, we have developed two approaches to elevate the gain-of-selection process.
The first uses computational science and artificial intelligence to simulate and summarize vast amounts of data into options that help breeders arrive at actionable decisions.
The second approach focuses on plant reproduction biology to make the best use of systems – DH production and apomixis, for example – that can increase the efficiency of the breeding process. Together with our partners, we take a close look at their current crop improvement programs and identify opportunities to make them better.
Technology innovation
To help our partners expand their breeding efficiency, KeyGene continuously develops proprietary technology in genomic breeding, DNA & RNA technology and data science.
Our data integration and visualization package – CropPedia – can be used in conjunction with other tools to increase the effectiveness of crop improvement programs.
