KeyGene reference: P112

The invention provides for a plant with increased drought resistance by impairing the expression of functional UPL4 and a method producing the same.

Although improvements in providing abiotic stress-tolerant plants have been reported, the nature of the genetically complex mechanisms underlying it provides a constant need for further improvement in this field. The present invention provides for a loss-of-function mutant resulting in increased drought tolerance in crops like tomato, cabbage, and rice.

Climate change urges the development of drought-tolerant crops. The present invention contributes thereto.
